Rotten Tomatoes’ editorial guide ranks these films Coogler directed, from highest to lowest Tomatometer score. All five are listed as Certified Fresh. Scores and review totals are dynamic; the percentages below reflect the guide checked on October 8, 2026.

What the Tomatometer ranking measures
The Tomatometer is the percentage of approved critics’ reviews that are positive. It is not a mean score, a star rating, or a measure of how strongly critics liked a film. A movie with a high percentage has more positive than negative reviews among those counted, but the figure does not show the size of each review’s praise or criticism. Rotten Tomatoes explains the distinction on its site.
Audience response is shown separately as the Popcornmeter. For example, when accessed, Sinners showed 97% from 441 critic reviews and a 96% Popcornmeter from 25,000+ verified ratings; Black Panther: Wakanda Forever showed 84% from 451 critic reviews and a 93% Popcornmeter from 10,000+ verified ratings. These are live page figures, not fixed results from a dated study, and the two measures should not be conflated.

How to read the five-film ranking
Sinners — 97%
Coogler’s 2025 film sits first on the editorial guide. Rotten Tomatoes’ Critics Consensus describes it as “A rip-roaring fusion of masterful visual storytelling and toe-tapping music, writer-director Ryan Coogler’s first original blockbuster reveals the full scope of his singular imagination.” That is the site’s aggregate consensus wording, not a quotation from an individual critic.
Black Panther — 96%
The 2018 film is second, one percentage point behind Sinners in the guide’s displayed scores.

Coogler’s 2015 film ranks third, just below Black Panther on this measure.
Fruitvale Station — 94%
The 2013 film ranks fourth. Rotten Tomatoes’ Critics Consensus calls it “a celebration of life, a condemnation of death, and a triumph for star Michael B. Jordan.” This is the consensus statement, not an attributed quote from a single reviewer.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever — 84%
The 2022 sequel is fifth in this five-film director ranking. Its Tomatometer is lower than the other four films listed, while its displayed Popcornmeter was 93% when the title page was accessed; that audience figure is a separate measure.

This ranking is specifically about films directed by Coogler, following Rotten Tomatoes’ editorial guide. His broader profile includes credits in other roles: for instance, it identifies Creed II and Creed III as producer credits, not director credits. Including those titles would answer a different question, so they are not part of this director ranking.

Because Tomatometer percentages and review counts can change, treat the table as a snapshot checked October 8, 2026, rather than a permanent ordering.
