That is a third-party estimate, not a verified estate total: the available sources do not provide an inventory of his assets and debts or explain how the figure was calculated.
What was Richard Dawson’s net worth?
Celebrity Net Worth lists Dawson’s net worth as $100,000 at his death in 2012. The figure is an attributed estimate, not an audited valuation or a court-confirmed accounting of his estate. The site does not provide a calculation method, and the available records do not independently verify the amount. Celebrity Net Worth’s Richard Dawson profile is the source for the estimate.
Net worth is not the same as total career earnings: it refers to assets minus liabilities at a particular point in time. The cited estimate does not disclose Dawson’s specific assets, debts, income sources, or estate distributions, so it cannot establish how much he earned from television or what beneficiaries received.

Dawson, born Colin Lionel Emm, built a career as an actor and television host. The Television Academy’s 2012 account notes his work on The Dick Van Dyke Show and Hogan’s Heroes, where he played Corporal Peter Newkirk, before his best-known hosting role on Family Feud.

An Associated Press obituary published by CBS News reported that executive producer Howard Felsher estimated Dawson had kissed “somewhere in the vicinity of 20,000” contestants by the show’s end in 1985. That was Felsher’s estimate of a show-related anecdote, not a financial statistic. Dawson was quoted as saying, “I kissed them for luck and love, that’s all.” Read the Associated Press obituary published by CBS News.
