McIntyre’s defense challenged the investigation and the reliability of witness accounts. During closing arguments, defense attorney John Hunter told jurors: “Taymor McIntyre is not guilty of capital murder, murder, or manslaughter, and the reason for that is very simple,” according to the Associated Press.
What was Tay-K convicted of?
The jury found McIntyre guilty of murder but not guilty of capital murder. Those are distinct verdicts: he was convicted of murder, not capital murder. The Associated Press reported that the jury proceeded to the punishment phase after returning its verdict.

How long was Tay-K sentenced to?
The jury imposed an 80-year prison sentence in the Bexar County case. The San Antonio Express-News reported that it would run concurrently with the 55-year sentence McIntyre was already serving for the separate Tarrant County case. Concurrent sentences are served at the same time rather than one after the other; the two terms should not be added together to describe the reported arrangement.
Why was this his second murder conviction?
McIntyre’s earlier murder conviction came in 2019 in Tarrant County. That case concerned the 2016 death of Ethan Walker during a home invasion in Mansfield. The Bexar County verdict involved a different victim and a separate incident.

What is known about an appeal?
On April 24, 2025, the San Antonio Express-News reported that McIntyre’s attorneys said they would pursue available appellate remedies. That report documents their stated intention at the time; it does not establish the current status or outcome of an appeal.
