Vasquez said Lisa Kudrow was with her when they entered his green room, where he was calling his agent. The story comes from Vasquez’s account on The Patrick Labyorteaux Show podcast, as reported by Entertainment Weekly; it is not a separately confirmed account from Aniston.
What Vasquez said happened
Entertainment Weekly reported on January 29, 2026, that Vasquez said he had been cast in what he called the fourth episode of Friends, then lost the part after a reading with director James Burrows. “I got cast on the fourth episode of Friends and I got fired after the reading by Jim Burrows,” he recalled.

Vasquez said he returned to his green room and called his agent. During that call, Aniston and Kudrow came in. He told them he had been let go.
How Jennifer Aniston reacted, according to Vasquez
Vasquez described Aniston as “mortified” and said, “It scared the crap out of her.” He also recalled that Kudrow felt bad for him. Those descriptions are Vasquez’s recollection; the Entertainment Weekly report does not include an independent account from Aniston confirming the exchange.

Matthew Perry also offered sympathy
Vasquez recalled that Matthew Perry later approached him outside the studio and expressed sympathy. As Vasquez recounted it, Perry shared that he had once been flown to Florida for a film job, only to be told after getting off the plane that his character had been written out. Entertainment Weekly reproduced Perry’s reported remarks from Vasquez’s podcast account.

Vasquez’s story describes a moment in the show’s early production, before Friends became a hit. Vanity Fair’s 2012 oral history identifies Burrows as the director brought in for the pilot and discusses the series’ early casting process. That provides background on Burrows’s involvement, but it does not independently verify Vasquez’s account.

The “fourth episode” phrasing is how Vasquez described the job. The available reports do not establish the precise broadcast episode or provide further details about the role. The firing and the cast members’ reactions should therefore be understood as Vasquez’s recollection, rather than as a production record or a statement confirmed by Aniston.
