On August 29, 2024, Winter Is Coming reported that a Predator production believed to be Predator: Badlands had begun filming in New Zealand. The report connected the project to the working title “Backpack,” a casting notice, and reports of a large American production near Rotorua. Has another Predator movie been announced?
In a February 2026 interview, director Dan Trachtenberg said he was still figuring out possibilities for future Predator movies and what might happen next to characters from Badlands and elsewhere in the franchise. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s comments the following month also concerned a possible future project, not a confirmed casting announcement.
