Based on the current shipboard setup, Bonolenov has the clearest named exposure to Hisoka, while Chrollo is a plausible high-risk target because the Troupe’s hunt is central to the conflict. Neither is confirmed to die, and the available official summaries do not support reliable death odds or a definitive ranking of every member.
What puts the Phantom Troupe in danger now?
The Troupe is caught in overlapping conflicts aboard the ship bound for the Dark Continent: the Succession War, escalating mafia violence, and its pursuit of Hisoka. Shueisha’s official summary for Hunter x Hunter, Vol. 38 describes the Troupe entering the mafia conflict and hunting the Xi-Yu family while pursuing Hisoka. The summary for Vol. 39 continues that shipboard collision and specifically says Bonolenov finds Hisoka playing a game.
That setup makes the Troupe vulnerable to both a direct confrontation with Hisoka and violence connected to the mafia struggle. It establishes danger for the group, not a death for any particular member. VIZ’s official chapter listing displays chapters through 420, dated September 6, 2026; the volume summaries provide the character-specific setup discussed below. Shueisha’s Vol. 39 is a 208-page Japanese print edition released July 3, 2026, collecting chapters 401–410, so it is not a collection through chapter 420.
Which members have the strongest risk case?
This is a short, evidence-led ranking, not a claim that the publisher has predicted anyone’s fate. It weighs named exposure to Hisoka, connection to the conflict, and how directly the official setup places a character in danger. The available summaries do not provide enough individual detail to rank the entire Troupe fairly.

#1 Best Overall
| Rank | Member | Why the risk is plausible | What the evidence does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bonolenov | Shueisha’s Vol. 39 summary names him finding Hisoka. Of the members identified in the official summaries, he has the clearest direct proximity to the Troupe’s target. | The encounter is not confirmation of a fight, injury, or death, and the synopsis does not predict his fate. |
| 2 | Chrollo | He leads the Troupe, whose pursuit of Hisoka and involvement in the mafia conflict drive the group-level danger described in Shueisha’s Vols. 38 and 39. That makes him a plausible target by association with the central conflict. | The official summaries cited here do not specifically name Chrollo as facing Hisoka or mafia violence in these events. His placement is an inference, not a publisher-confirmed death flag. |
Bonolenov ranks first because the official Vol. 39 description explicitly puts him in an encounter with Hisoka. Chrollo follows on a broader leadership-and-conflict inference. The difference matters: a named encounter is stronger evidence of immediate exposure than group-level involvement, but neither fact predicts an outcome.
Why not rank the rest of the Troupe?
The official summaries establish that the Phantom Troupe is involved in the shipboard mafia conflict and pursuing Hisoka, but they do not identify other members as facing a specific threat in the material summarized here. A full member-by-member order would require chapter-level evidence for each person; assigning places without it would turn speculation into false precision. The publisher material also offers no named statistic for Troupe mortality or survival odds and no official prediction of a member’s death.
For a forecast, the useful distinction is between group exposure and individual exposure. A member can be in danger because the Troupe is at war, but a stronger case needs a current, specific point of contact with Hisoka or the mafia conflict. On the evidence above, Bonolenov meets that narrower test most clearly; Chrollo’s case rests on his role in the group’s conflict.

The safest answer to “Which Phantom Troupe members will die in the Succession War arc?” is that the canon setup identifies Bonolenov and, more indirectly, Chrollo as plausible risks, but confirms no deaths. Treat any exact odds, complete fatality list, or claim about the author’s intended ending as fan speculation unless it is supported by a current chapter or an attributable official statement.
