Amit Trivedi’s five-song soundtrack for Pad Man offers a useful mix of folk-tinged melody, pop-rock and celebratory energy, but its variety does not quite add up to a memorable album arc. At about 21 minutes, it is a compact, capable companion to the film rather than an essential standalone listen.
What is on the Pad Man soundtrack?
Apple Music lists Padman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) as a five-song album released on December 26, 2017, with a total duration of 21 minutes and ℗ 2017 Zee Music Company. Bollywood Hungama credits Amit Trivedi as music director and Kausar Munir as lyricist. The track credits are:
- “Aaj Se Teri” — Arijit Singh
- “The Pad Man Song” — Mika Singh
- “Hu Ba Hu” — Amit Trivedi
- “Saale Sapne” — Mohit Chauhan
- “Sayaani” — Yashita Sharma, Jonita Gandhi, Yashika Sikka and Rani Kaur
Bollywood Hungama classifies “Aaj Se Teri” as a love song and the other four as theme songs. Those labels suggest the album’s balance: one intimate number alongside tracks more directly tied to the film’s subject and spirit.
How do the five songs compare?
Apple Music’s descriptions point to clear contrasts in sound and function. The question is whether those contrasts build a satisfying progression or leave the collection feeling like a set of separate film cues.
#1 Best Overall
| Track | Described sound or role | What it adds to the album |
|---|---|---|
| “Aaj Se Teri” | Folksy sound and an Indian raga-like melody | A warm, intimate opening; Bollywood Hungama categorizes it as a love song. |
| “The Pad Man Song” | Quirky lyrics and a jaunty ladies’ chorus | A more playful, outward-facing theme track. |
| “Hu Ba Hu” | Upbeat Trivedi-style cut | A brisk lift in energy, with Trivedi also performing. |
| “Saale Sapne” | Pop-rock | A polished, motivational-sounding contrast to the folk-associated colors elsewhere. |
| “Sayaani” | Wedding song using classic instrumentation | A celebratory ensemble number that rounds out the album’s range. |
Does the variety make the album memorable?
The soundtrack’s strongest asset is its compact variety. “Aaj Se Teri” provides melodic warmth, while “The Pad Man Song” and “Hu Ba Hu” lean into buoyant energy. “Saale Sapne” brings pop-rock polish; “Sayaani” supplies a wedding-song setting and ensemble vocals. Together, the descriptions show a soundtrack that can shift between intimate, celebratory and motivational functions.
That range is also the limit of its identity as an album. The tracks occupy different roles and styles, but the available descriptions do not point to a strong musical thread joining them into a distinctive arc. The result feels more useful in the context of the film than compelling as a continuous listen. “Strictly serviceable” fits: there is enough variation to keep the short collection from feeling monotonous, but not enough cohesion to make it linger.

How does that verdict compare with the contemporary review?
The Indian Express published a review on February 10, 2018, under the headline “PadMan music review: Lost Cause.” Its accessible excerpt confirms that it discusses “Aaj Se Teri” and Mika Singh’s “The Pad Man Song,” but the full article was not available to verify, so its detailed track-by-track argument cannot be represented here. The headline is one critic’s period assessment, not evidence of universal agreement.

Pad Man is a short, varied soundtrack with a handful of distinct moods and a clear split between romantic, celebratory and theme-song material. Its songs look fit for their individual functions, but the collection’s stylistic changes do not establish a particularly memorable whole. It is a competent film album, best approached as a concise companion to the movie rather than a major standalone statement from Amit Trivedi.
