Disney’s deal combining Fubo with specified Hulu + Live TV business assets closed on October 29, 2025. It did not turn Hulu + Live TV into the Fubo app: the two services remained separate, and Fubo Support said on November 6, 2025, that customers could keep using their existing accounts without taking action.
What did Disney and Fubo agree to?
Fubo and Disney announced a definitive agreement on January 6, 2025. The transaction combined Fubo’s existing business with specified assets and agreements associated with Hulu’s linear live-TV service. It was not a merger of Hulu’s entire streaming business into Fubo.
Fubo’s announcement described a combined base of 6.2 million Fubo and Hulu + Live TV subscribers in North America. That was the announcement-date figure, not a current subscriber count. The deal also included a $220 million aggregate cash payment to Fubo from Disney, FOX and Warner Bros. Discovery at signing, plus a separate $145 million term loan Disney committed to provide in 2026. Those were transaction terms, not customer benefits. Fubo’s January 6, 2025 announcement also described a planned Fubo Sports & Broadcasting offering; the available closing information does not establish whether that offering later launched.
Has the deal closed, and who controls Fubo?
Yes. Fubo reported that the transaction closed on October 29, 2025. Following closing, Hulu and Disney collectively owned and controlled approximately 70% of Fubo’s voting interest, according to Fubo’s SEC filing.

At closing, Fubo described the combined business as having nearly 6 million paid subscribers in North America. The filing also characterized Hulu + Live TV at that time as offering more than 90 channels. These are dated company descriptions, not guarantees of today’s subscriber total or channel lineup. The filing’s ranking of the combined company as the sixth-largest U.S. pay-TV company is attributed to UBS estimates as of June 30, 2025.
Did Hulu + Live TV become part of the Fubo app?
No. The transaction covered specified Hulu Live Business assets tied to carriage agreements and distribution of programming on Hulu’s linear multichannel service. Hulu continued to distribute Hulu + Live TV through the Hulu platform. Hulu or its affiliates retained operation of the Hulu and Disney platforms and exclusive responsibility for selling and administering Hulu + Live TV subscriptions.

That distinction matters: a change in Fubo’s ownership and business assets does not mean Hulu + Live TV subscribers were transferred to a Fubo account or app. The consumer service remained a Hulu offering.
Do subscribers need to change accounts or plans?
Fubo Support said on November 6, 2025, that the services were still separate, customers could continue using their Fubo or Hulu + Live TV accounts as usual, and no action was needed. The article also said there had been no changes to plans or pricing as of that date. That is a dated update, not confirmation of current prices or plan terms. Read Fubo Support’s subscriber guidance.

Will there be one combined Fubo and Hulu + Live TV plan?
The available customer guidance described separate services, not a single combined subscription. The transaction announcement spoke of expanding the companies’ virtual multichannel TV offerings, but that strategic aim is not the same as announcing a shared plan. No combined plan is established by the closing disclosure or the cited November 2025 support guidance.
If you are choosing between the services, compare the current plan and price, local-channel availability in your market, sports and regional sports network rights, channel lineup, supported devices, simultaneous streams and DVR terms. The transaction documents do not establish those current details. Fubo’s official partner page provides information about its app and device availability and regional restrictions; verify current plan terms directly with each service.
