Gisele Bündchen paid tribute to her mother, Vânia Nonnenmacher, on Instagram on January 30, 2024, two days after Nonnenmacher died at 75. Her caption remembered her mother as a source of love and strength, thanked her for raising five daughters who became “five best friends for life,” and ended with the words: “I will see you in my dreams.”
What Gisele Bündchen wrote about her mother
Bündchen’s post paired family photographs with a caption in Portuguese and English. In the English version, she addressed her mother directly, writing that it hurt to know she could no longer hug her, but that she believed her mother would always watch over the family.
She called Nonnenmacher “an angel on earth” who was always helping others. Bündchen said she was grateful to be her daughter and to have learned from her, then thanked her for being a role model of “love, strength, compassion, courage, and grace.”
The tribute also recognized the bond among the sisters: “Thank you for giving me five best friends for life. Your love will always guide us.” Bündchen closed, “I will see you in my dreams. Love you ❤️.” ABC News reproduced the English caption; CBS News also reported its central passages.

When she posted, and what was reported about the death
Bündchen shared the tribute on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Her mother, Vânia Maria Nonnenmacher Bündchen, died on Sunday, January 28, aged 75. The dates and age were reported by ABC News and by Brazilian outlet Notícias da TV, which described Bündchen’s post as her first public statement about her mother’s death.
According to the hospital statement as reported by Notícias da TV, Nonnenmacher was admitted to Hospital Moinhos de Vento in Porto Alegre on January 26 and died as a result of cancer. ABC News likewise reported cancer as the cause. That information came from the hospital statement, not from Bündchen’s tribute.
