Entertainment Tonight reported, citing court documents, that Doherty signed papers for a default or uncontested dissolution on July 12, 2024. Iswarienko signed his portion on July 13, the day Doherty died at age 53, as CBS News also reported. The filing quoted by Entertainment Tonight said: “The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support, the original of which is being or has been submitted to the court.”
Doherty’s publicist Leslie Sloane told the Los Angeles Times that divorce was “the last thing Shannen wanted,” adding, “Unfortunately, she felt she was left with no other option.”
