Where Prince Harry went in Ukraine
Harry visited the Superhumans Centre, an orthopaedic and rehabilitation facility in Lviv. The Invictus Games Foundation and the Associated Press described the centre as providing prosthetics, reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation and psychological support free of charge to military personnel and civilians affected by the war. The Foundation’s account of the visit and the Associated Press report identify the facility and its work.
Who he met and what the delegation did
Harry travelled with an Invictus Games Foundation delegation that included four veterans who had experienced serious injuries and recovery. The group toured the centre and met patients and medical staff. Harry also met members of Ukraine’s Invictus Games community, according to the Foundation.
The visit connected the Foundation’s sporting community with rehabilitation work beyond competition. Ukraine has participated in the Invictus Games since Toronto 2017, and the Foundation describes year-round sport recovery programmes as part of its work. Its chief executive, Rob Owen OBE, said: “We are so excited to be here in Ukraine as part of our renewed focus on prioritising sport recovery where the need is great.”

Why the visit was called unannounced
News of the Lviv visit was reported only after Harry had left Ukraine. The Associated Press and ITV used that timing in their coverage, and the Foundation described the visit as private. Those accounts do not establish why disclosure was delayed, so a specific security or other motive should not be assumed.

The headline refers to the April 2025 visit to Lviv, not to Harry’s subsequent trips to Kyiv. The dates and locations distinguish the separate events:
- 10 April 2025: Visit to the Superhumans Centre in Lviv. The Invictus Games Foundation confirmed the date and location.
- 12 September 2025: A separate surprise visit to Kyiv, which the Associated Press described as his second visit to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion. Associated Press coverage
- 23 April 2026: A later unannounced visit to Kyiv. ITV reported his arrival and speech at the Kyiv Security Conference; the Ukrainian government said Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko welcomed him. ITV’s report
Accounts describe the number of visits differently depending on the dates and scope being counted. The Foundation’s later account calls the 2026 trip his second visit to Ukraine, while AP described the September 2025 trip as his second since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The April 2025 Lviv visit is the event at issue here.
