What is Hoppers about?
Mabel is an animal lover who uses a new technology to “hop” her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver. In that form, she can experience the animal world and communicate directly with its inhabitants. She befriends King George, a beaver, and tries to rally the animals against local mayor Jerry Generazzo.
The conflict centers on Mabel’s beloved glade, which is threatened by a planned highway. That puts habitat protection at the heart of the story: Mabel’s effort to save a place she cares about becomes a larger attempt to bring the animal community together. Who made the film, and who is in the cast?
Daniel Chong directed Hoppers, Nicole Paradis Grindle produced it, and Mark Mothersbaugh composed the score. The central voice roles are Piper Curda as Mabel, Bobby Moynihan as King George, and Jon Hamm as Mayor Jerry. The ensemble also includes Kathy Najimy, Dave Franco, and Meryl Streep. Disney Parks Blog reported in 2026 that the Disney Conservation Fund had directed more than $140 million to community-based efforts since 1995, helping protect more than 1,000 wildlife species.
