Netflix confirmed that a post-production partner had been compromised and footage from several titles had leaked, but its statement did not name Arcane. The series identification and five-episode count came from news reports, not Netflix’s public confirmation.
What was reported to have leaked?
On August 8, 2024, TheWrap reported that episodes from Netflix and Crunchyroll titles had appeared on social media, including Arcane season two. The outlet reported that five Arcane episodes were posted. That is a reported count; Netflix did not specify the affected titles or number of episodes in its statement.
The Los Angeles Times reported the following day that Netflix had declined to identify the affected titles. Its article separately noted reporting that identified Arcane episodes among the leaked material. Taken together, the reporting supports describing this as a reported Arcane leak—not as a title Netflix publicly confirmed in its statement.
What did Netflix confirm?
As quoted by the Los Angeles Times on August 9, Netflix said: “One of our post production partners has been compromised and footage from several of our titles has unfortunately leaked online.” The statement continued: “Our team is aggressively taking action to have it taken down.”
#1 Best Overall
Netflix’s words confirmed a security incident involving a post-production partner and leaked footage from multiple titles. They did not name the partner, identify Arcane, or give a count of leaked episodes. The Los Angeles Times also reported that localization company Iyuno acknowledged a security issue involving confidential content; the available reporting does not establish that Iyuno handled Arcane, so it should not be identified as the series’ vendor or confirmed source of the leak.
How did the leak precede the planned release?
The reported leak surfaced in August, while Netflix’s official season-two release was scheduled for November. Riot’s announcement set the global community premiere for 11 p.m. Pacific Time on November 8, 2024, with episode one airing at midnight Pacific Time. The next two episodes were to play on Netflix at the same time. The announcement described the planned premiere—not the leak—and provides the official release context for the gap between the August reports and the November debut.

Where does the season stand now?
Netflix’s season-two guide, dated November 26, 2024, describes Arcane season two as the “second and final season” and says it is streaming. Netflix identifies the series as based on League of Legends, created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, and produced by Fortiche Production in partnership with Riot Games.
