In the story, Xavier is attending Reichenbach Academy and sends Wednesday a painting and a goodbye note. The show’s explanation does not establish why the actor was left out of the cast: the sources reviewed do not give an official reason for that decision.
Why isn’t Percy Hynes White in Wednesday Season 2?
Hynes White, who played Xavier in Season 1, was not included in the announced Season 2 cast. TVLine reported his absence from Netflix’s cast list on May 7, 2024, and Netflix’s own Season 2 cast guide does not list him.
That confirms the non-return, but not its cause. The sources reviewed do not provide an official Netflix explanation for the casting decision. ComicBook.com likewise reported that no official reason had been given and that a connection to the controversy surrounding Hynes White was not confirmed. The timing of events is not proof of why he was not cast.
What happened to Xavier in the story?
In the Season 2 premiere, Wednesday learns that Xavier has gone to Reichenbach Academy, a European boarding school mentioned in Season 1. He sends her a painting of a red-eyed raven along with a goodbye note. This explains Xavier’s absence within the plot; it is not an explanation of the real-world casting decision.

Co-showrunner Alfred Gough told TVLine that “we have seen the last of him.” That comment describes the show’s reported plans for Xavier’s story, not Hynes White’s employment status outside the series.
What did Hynes White say about the allegations?
In 2023, Hynes White responded publicly to allegations that appeared in social-media posts, calling them a “campaign of misinformation.” TVLine reported that the posts were later deleted. His wording is his own account of the matter; it is not an independent finding about the allegations. Neither that response nor the reported casting timeline establishes why he did not return.
