Parkway Drive’s planned Australian Park Waves festival was cancelled in December 2025, about two months before its first scheduled show. The promoter said a combination of challenges meant “the numbers no longer stack up,” while Parkway Drive pointed specifically to rising costs across the entertainment industry. The announced plan was to refund ticket prices and booking fees, with ticket holders to be notified by email.
Why was Park Waves cancelled?
Park Waves co-presenters Destroy All Lines and Park Waves said the event would not go ahead because of “a combination of challenges” and that “the numbers no longer stack up,” according to ABC News. Parkway Drive’s separate statement described the cancellation as another festival being affected by rising costs across the entertainment industry. The Music also reported the cancellation and the organisers’ broad explanation.
Neither statement provides Park Waves’ budget, ticket-sales figures, losses, or a complete event-specific breakdown of the decision. Australian Festival Association managing director Mitch Wilson told ABC that festival costs were up 30 to 40 per cent across the board and that ticket sales were not high enough to cover those costs. That is an industry-level estimate attributed to Wilson, not a disclosed Park Waves figure.
What was Park Waves meant to be?
Park Waves was announced as a Parkway Drive-led touring festival, co-presented with promoter Destroy All Lines. The planned bill included Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction, Northlane, Alpha Wolf, and Story Of The Year. The Music described a broader festival format combining heavy music with circus performers, carnival rides, sideshow attractions, and food offerings.
