Ao comentar uma influenciadora que não identificou pelo nome, Paola mencionou uma pessoa com cerca de 42 milhões de seguidores, um produto de base e o tipo de conteúdo que aparecia no feed. A cobertura da época descreveu a fala como crítica ao conteúdo exibido, mas não como uma menção direta a Virginia.

Virginia respondeu no Threads
Em 15 de julho de 2023, Virginia publicou uma resposta no Threads. Segundo a reportagem do gshow, ela escreveu: “Pior que eu gostava da Paola. […] Cada um externa o que tem dentro de si. Eu nunca perderia meu tempo indignada com a fama de outra pessoa. Sei que cheguei muito longe e isso assusta, mas só estou aqui porque Deus permitiu.”

Paola esclareceu sua fala
Mais tarde, no mesmo dia, Paola disse que a fala havia sido tirada de contexto e negou que fosse uma crítica. Ela também defendeu que cada mulher possa mostrar o corpo e a própria imagem como quiser. Na declaração reproduzida pelo gshow, escreveu: “Se a minha fala tirada de contexto se entende como uma critica, pois entendam agora: Não é. Que cada uma de nós possa ser e fazer o que quiser com liberdade.”
