El chaleco azul que Nick Reiner llevaba en su primera comparecencia ante un tribunal de Los Ángeles era una prenda de prevención del suicidio usada en custodia, según medios que cubrieron la audiencia del 17 de diciembre de 2025. Su finalidad general es reducir el riesgo de autolesiones; las fuentes no explicaron por qué se le asignó a Reiner en particular.
Qué era el chaleco azul
Associated Press describió la prenda como un smock acolchado de prevención del suicidio utilizado en la cárcel. Associated Press informó que Reiner apareció esposado detrás de un panel de vidrio, en un área de custodia. Qué se sabe —y qué no— sobre el motivo
Las fuentes revisadas no comunicaron por qué las autoridades asignaron el chaleco a Reiner. Por tanto, su presencia permite identificar una medida de seguridad de custodia, pero no establecer un diagnóstico, una condición mental concreta, un intento de autolesión ni la evaluación individual que pudo haber motivado su uso.

Qué ocurrió en la primera comparecencia
La audiencia tuvo lugar el 17 de diciembre de 2025 en Los Ángeles y fue la primera comparecencia de Reiner ante el tribunal. AP informó que no presentó una declaración de culpabilidad en esa audiencia y que la lectura de cargos se aplazó. Al responder sobre la nueva fecha, dijo: “sí, su señoría”, según la transcripción de AP; esa frase no se refería al chaleco.
La audiencia posterior de febrero de 2026
En una audiencia posterior, en febrero de 2026, Reiner se declaró no culpable. AP informó el 23 de febrero que ya no llevaba el chaleco de prevención del suicidio que había usado en diciembre. Esa comparecencia posterior no debe confundirse con su primera visita al tribunal.
