Early dispatch audio reported by news outlets described a person in all-black clothing and tactical gear. That account is distinct from the FBI public-appeal images, which CNN described as showing a person in a black shirt and jeans; neither description, by itself, establishes a final identification of the person who fired the shot.
What the reported dispatch description said
A CNN transcript dated September 11, 2025, relayed radio traffic describing someone as wearing “all black,” carrying a “black long gun,” and wearing a “black tactical helmet” and “a black mask.” The speaker said the person was “possibly wearing a tactical vest and jeans.” The transcript presents this as a dispatch description, not a forensic finding or confirmed account of the shooter’s clothing. Read the CNN transcript.
A September 10 Yahoo News republication of PEOPLE reporting attributed additional details to other dispatch transmissions: aviator-style glasses, a black bag, long pants, and longer hair. These details are secondary reporting of audio, rather than a definitive identification. Read the Yahoo News republication.
How that differs from the FBI public-appeal images
CNN separately described FBI public-appeal images as showing a person in a stairwell wearing a black shirt and jeans. That is an image description, not the same account as the radio traffic’s all-black tactical-gear description. The two should not be combined into one confirmed outfit.
