The four-day visit began August 15 and included Bogotá, Cartagena and Cali. The trip is complete; its announced themes included online safety and violence in digital environments.
What Colombia announced
Márquez announced the invitation and said the couple would engage with leaders, young people and women. The Colombian government connected the visit’s themes to cyberbullying, violence in digital environments and discrimination, and to a global ministerial conference on ending violence against children scheduled for Colombia in November 2024. The government also characterized the Archewell Foundation as known for work on safer digital environments. These were the government’s stated context and aims, not an independent assessment of the foundation’s work. Caracol Radio’s August 1 report covered the announcement; the Colombian government described the conference connection.
When the visit took place and where they went
The announcement was made August 1; Harry and Meghan arrived August 15. Contemporaneous coverage described the trip as lasting four days. The announced destinations were Bogotá, Cartagena and Cali. A post-visit government account added San Basilio de Palenque to its itinerary summary, so it is useful to distinguish the announced cities from the additional location in that retrospective account. The government’s post-visit account summarized the engagements.
Bogotá
The government account described cultural engagements in Bogotá, including a visit to the Centro Nacional de las Artes Delia Zapata Olivella.

What was said about who paid
In a post-visit explanation reported by Noticias RCN, Colombia’s Ministry of Equality and Equity said the Sussexes paid for their own travel and working team, while events were co-funded through international cooperation and philanthropy. The ministry said it handled technical requirements, mobility and participation by young people, women and communities. The report also said the government covered some intercity transport and meals at selected events. This is the ministry’s account as reported by Noticias RCN, not an independently audited total or a complete public accounting of costs. Noticias RCN’s report on the visit’s funding provides that explanation.
