On 5 November 2025, Prince Harry was in Toronto for veterans-related engagements ahead of Remembrance Day while Prince William was in Brazil for the Earthshot Prize awards. The overlap was reported as a scheduling coincidence: PEOPLE, in a report republished by Yahoo News, said the Toronto engagements had been planned nearly a year earlier and that the charity set the main-event timing.
Why was Prince Harry in Canada?
Harry began a solo visit to Toronto on Wednesday, 5 November 2025. The reported focus was Remembrance Day, observed annually on 11 November, and engagements connected with veterans and military service. The visit was expected to continue into 6 November. PEOPLE reported these itinerary details; they have not been independently confirmed here through organizers’ records.

The report said Harry met members of Canadian Reserve Forces associated with historic Toronto regiments and a Royal Canadian Navy reserve division. Their conversations addressed the balance between civilian work and reserve service. The visit also included demonstrations by teams responsible for diving, deck work, operations and music.
Reported charity engagements
PEOPLE said Harry was invited by True Patriot Love Foundation and was expected to attend a private lunch on international veterans’ issues. The report also said he was expected at a private fundraiser benefiting The HALO Trust. These details are attributed to the PEOPLE report, rather than presented as independently verified event records.

Why was Prince William in Brazil?
William was in Brazil for the fifth Earthshot Prize cycle, with the awards ceremony scheduled for the evening of 5 November, according to the same PEOPLE report. The two brothers’ engagements therefore took place in different countries on the same date, but served different purposes: Harry’s reported schedule centered on veterans and Remembrance Day, while William’s was tied to the environmental prize.
Were the trips scheduled to compete with each other?
PEOPLE reported that Harry’s engagements had been planned nearly a year in advance and that the charity, rather than Harry, established the timing of the main event. That is the source’s account of the planning; the available records do not independently establish the organizers’ schedules or prove anyone’s intent. The overlap alone does not show that either trip was arranged in response to the other.
Was Harry’s Canada visit an official royal tour?
That designation is not established by the available sources. Global Affairs Canada describes official, working and private visits in its general guidance, but does not classify Harry’s November 2025 visit. It is more precise to call it a reported solo visit to Toronto than to label it an official royal tour.
For historical context, Canadian Heritage’s royal-tour archive records William and Harry travelling to Toronto with their parents in October 1991, as well as later visits to Canada by William. Those records document past tours, not the status or itinerary of Harry’s 2025 visit. The Government of Canada identifies William as next in line to the throne and says he was named Prince of Wales in 2022.

What is confirmed about the two schedules?
The event-specific account available for 5 November comes from PEOPLE’s report, republished by Yahoo News. The Royal Family’s Court Circular is an official archive of royal engagements, but the retrieved page displayed 2026 entries and did not provide a record for these two 2025 visits. The reported itinerary details should therefore be understood as attributed reporting, not as independently corroborated official schedules.
