Why was Outer Range cancelled?
The reports establish that the series was cancelled, but do not establish Amazon’s reason. The sources available do not confirm whether audience numbers, production costs, scheduling, or a broader programming strategy drove the decision. Those may be subjects of speculation, but they should not be presented as the explanation.

What made the cancellation disappointing
Prime Video describes Outer Range as a drama about rancher Royal Abbott and his family fighting for their land after encountering an inexplicable mystery on their Wyoming property. The blend of family conflict, ranch life, and an uncanny central puzzle gave the series room to play as both a Western and a mystery. Ending after two seasons means viewers will not get a third season to see that story continue.
Josh Brolin, who played Royal, publicly voiced his disappointment. In a statement reported by UPI on July 4, 2024, he praised the show’s concept, cast, and crew. The report quotes him calling it “our beloved show” and describing the idea as “great.”

Where to watch the two seasons
Prime Video’s listing presents the series as a two-season show, but catalog access can vary by territory. Search for Outer Range in your local Prime Video catalog to confirm whether both seasons are currently available where you are. The cancellation reports do not identify another service offering a third season.
