The event was a major moment in Pride WA’s November celebration, though the available sources do not establish that it was Western Australia’s biggest LGBTQIA+ event by a comparable measure.
What happened at the Northbridge parade
Pride WA organized PrideFEST 2025, a Western Australian LGBTQIA+ celebration with signature and community events across November. The City of Perth described the festival as a 10-day celebration and the parade as its 34th year. City of Perth’s account gives that context; it does not provide a comparative ranking of Pride events across WA.
In PerthNow’s report, reporter Rachel Fenner estimated that about 6,000 people marched, with thousands more lining the streets. That is a reported estimate, not an independently audited count.
The report describes Dykes on Bikes leading the procession, followed by groups including a large float from The Courts, Club Fiesta’s dance troupe, a Rainbow Families Wicked-themed group, Fremantle Dockers participants, Trans Folk of WA, the Port Hedland Lesbian and Gay Society, and Perth Rams. Those varied contingents made the parade a public display of community organizations and identities, not simply a single procession of floats.

Visibility and representation in the parade
Participants told PerthNow that visibility and solidarity mattered alongside celebration. Dykes on Bikes WA president Nomes said the group had, for the first time, “boys on bikes and we have pops on bikes,” adding that it showed the group was united and supported everybody.
Perth Rams development coach David Weir called it “pretty amazing to see all the different groups, all the different representations.” He also said some players on the team had not felt comfortable at other clubs, and described inclusive sports groups as a “beacon” for people who might want to try playing. His comments give the parade’s visibility a practical dimension: representation can help people see a place for themselves in community sport.

Was the parade free and accessible?
Pride WA’s 2025 guide described the parade as free and open to all ages, with adult supervision required. It listed accessible viewing areas, AUSLAN interpreters, and mobility access as provisions for the event. These are the published arrangements in the guide, rather than an independent assessment of how each provision operated on the night.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why “WA’s biggest” needs qualification
PerthNow’s headline called PrideFEST 2025 “WA’s biggest LGBTQI+ event,” but the available reporting does not define “biggest” or compare it with other events using a common measure such as marchers, attendees, or spectators. The City of Perth’s description of the parade’s 34th year and PrideFEST’s 10-day duration establishes its scale and history, not a statewide ranking. It is more precise to describe Northbridge as the setting for a large, prominent Perth Pride parade.
