Disney describes Dek as an outcast who teams up with Thia, a stranded robot, while seeking an ultimate adversary on a remote planet. The film’s November 7, 2025 theatrical opening is now historical; Disney UK announced its Disney+ arrival for February 12, 2026, though availability varies by territory.
What does “turns the tables” mean in the trailer?
The reversal is about the point of view: Dek, a member of the Predator species known as the Yautja, is the protagonist and underdog. The Walt Disney Company called it the first film in the Predator Universe centered on the Yautja and the first in the franchise to make a Predator both the lead character and an underdog. Rather than framing the creature only as a threat to be hunted or escaped, the film follows his struggle and his search for a formidable opponent.
The official trailer description places the story in the future on a remote planet. It introduces a young Predator outcast who finds an unlikely ally in Thia and seeks an ultimate adversary. The trailer’s premise changes who viewers are asked to follow; it does not, by itself, establish every plot detail or reveal the film’s ending.
Who are Dek and Thia?
Dek
Disney identifies Dek as a young Predator exiled from his clan. Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi plays him. His status as an outcast gives the central character a vulnerable position within his own species, supporting the film’s underdog framing.

Thia
Thia is a robot described by Disney as severed and stranded. Elle Fanning plays her. The trailer and official materials present her as Dek’s unlikely ally, not simply as another target in a Predator hunt.
Who made the film, and what tone did its director describe?
Dan Trachtenberg directed and produced Predator: Badlands. Describing the film’s overall tone, he said: “This is a real, giant, visceral thrill ride, but it also has an enormous, heaping dose of heart and emotionality.” That is Trachtenberg’s characterization of the movie as a whole, rather than a description tied to one particular trailer shot.

When did Predator: Badlands open, and where can you watch it?
The US theatrical opening was scheduled for November 7, 2025. Disney UK later announced a Disney+ arrival on February 12, 2026. That date is a UK-specific announcement, not confirmation of the film’s present availability in every country. Disney+’s catalog listing identifies the movie as a 2025 science-fiction film directed by Trachtenberg, with Fanning and Schuster-Koloamatangi in the cast, and gives its runtime as 1 hour 47 minutes. Catalog access and subscription terms depend on territory.
For a theatrical screening, check current local listings rather than relying on the original release announcement. Disney UK’s October 7, 2025 announcement named IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D, D-BOX, 4DX, ScreenX and other premium screens as formats for the release, but it does not establish which formats are currently showing or what tickets cost. Compare the local schedule, presentation format, 3D availability and ticket price before choosing.
