The latest report, published by TheWrap on August 13, 2026, says Disney+ decided not to move forward with the series and that it would not advance beyond development. That is trade-press reporting attributed to a source with knowledge—not an on-record announcement from Disney or Hasbro.
Is the Power Rangers reboot still happening?
According to TheWrap’s August 13, 2026 report, Disney+ would not proceed with the planned live-action series. The report says the project would remain in development and attributes the decision to business-related considerations. It does not quote a named Disney or Hasbro representative announcing the decision.
That is the latest status reported in the sources available here. It should be described as a reported decision, not as a public cancellation announcement from either company. TheWrap’s account is available at TheWrap.
Is there a Power Rangers reboot release date?
No. TheWrap reported no release date, filming date, production schedule, or confirmed cast. The reported decision not to move forward also means the reported attachments should not be mistaken for evidence that filming or production took place.

What production details were reported?
TheWrap reported that Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz were attached as writers and executive producers, 20th Television was the studio, and Hasbro was set to produce. It described the project’s aim as reinventing the franchise for new and existing fans. These are reported development details, not confirmation of a greenlight, a completed script, casting, or production.
Unverified script information
A July 23, 2026 ComicBook.com report relayed earlier insider information about a possible story: a new team using the original Red, Pink, Yellow, Blue, and Black Ranger colors, in a world that no longer remembers the Rangers. Those details were not confirmed by Hasbro or TheWrap and should be treated as unverified script reporting—not as an established premise or a production leak. Franchise context is not reboot production news
Hasbro said in an April 22, 2024 licensing announcement that the franchise launched in 1993 and had aired more than 900 episodes. Those are franchise-wide figures, not details about the proposed Disney+ series. The same announcement said Playmates Toys would produce and distribute Power Rangers products globally outside Asia, with a Mighty Morphin line planned for 2025. That merchandise plan is not evidence of reboot tie-in products or of the series moving into production. Hasbro’s licensing announcement.
