What do critics say about Play Dirty?
Rotten Tomatoes’ critics consensus reads: “Play Dirty marks a welcome return for writer-director Shane Black to the realm of wisecracking crime thriller, but haphazard execution makes this vehicle less of a comeback and more just low-stakes mucking around.”

One critic’s assessment
Rotten Tomatoes lists Aaron Neuwirth of We Live Entertainment’s October 16, 2025 review at 4/10. He wrote: “Wahlberg, who has come a long way only to now repeatedly star in streaming films I don’t care for, plays the worst interpretation of author Richard Stark’s Parker yet in this film.” That is one reviewer’s view, not the critics’ consensus or an established fact about Wahlberg’s performance.
Is it worth watching?
It is a cautious pick rather than a safe recommendation. The Rotten Tomatoes snapshot is weak, and the consensus specifically flags haphazard execution. Viewers who mainly want a disciplined, tightly plotted crime thriller may prefer to wait or choose something else. Rotten Tomatoes lists Prime Video as a subscription option and Fandango for rental or purchase, and gives October 1, 2025, as the streaming release date. Amazon’s official page also says the film is available on Prime Video. These are listed options, not a guarantee of access in every country: check your local service for current availability and terms. Rotten Tomatoes lists a runtime of 2 hours 5 minutes; a Prime Video search listing showed 2 hours 6 minutes, so the runtime may differ between listings.
