Those are individual accounts—not a measure of his private personality or evidence that people broadly hate him. The available fan discussions show positive encounter stories and one narrow, conditional bout of disappointment over speculation about possible Firefly news.
What fans who met Nathan Fillion say
In a 2026 discussion on Reddit’s r/CastleTV, a fan asked, “Has anyone met him? Is he as amazing as you would think?” Several commenters described positive convention encounters. One recounted posing for a photo, getting an autograph, and talking with Fillion for a few minutes; other commenters also remembered him as friendly. One used the phrase “super chill.” These are firsthand fan reports, not independently verified findings about Fillion’s character. Source: Reddit, r/CastleTV, “Meeting Nathan!” (2026).
A separate fan account in r/firefly describes meeting Fillion at Comic Con in 2019 and remembering the encounter warmly. It is another personal anecdote, rather than a representative sample. Source: Reddit, r/firefly (post dated 2021).
What a convention encounter can—and cannot—tell you
A fan’s impression depends partly on the setting and the time available. In the CastleTV discussion, attendees describe photo opportunities as brief, with lines that can be long. One commenter says autograph sessions allowed somewhat more conversation, though handlers still managed the process. These are event-specific recollections; formats and interactions can vary.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Photo opportunity: typically described in the thread as brief.
- Autograph session: one attendee recalls having somewhat more time to talk, within a managed line.
- Incidental encounter: a different kind of interaction, but a single polite exchange would still not establish someone’s broader private personality.
Online accounts also have limits: people who post in fan communities may be especially enthusiastic, and their stories cannot establish how Fillion behaves in every setting.
Is there evidence that people broadly hate him?
The material available here does not establish broad dislike, a general “hate” reputation, or a specific well-documented controversy explaining one. A March 2026 r/firefly discussion shows conditional disappointment linked to fans’ speculation about what a series of videos might announce. That reaction is about expectations around possible Firefly news; it does not demonstrate lasting or widespread hostility toward Fillion. Source: Reddit, r/firefly discussion (March 2026).

Fillion’s connection with Firefly helps explain why fans continue to discuss him at conventions. In a 2005 interview about Serenity, he reflected on the show’s cancellation and the response to its DVD release, saying: “The DVD selling well was like a little pat on a back, like a consolation prize. It said ‘guys, you weren’t doing anything wrong’.” The comment speaks to how he viewed the show’s post-cancellation support; it does not establish current DVD stock or listings.
