Padma Lakshmi appeared in the 2025 Pirelli Calendar, titled Refresh and Reveal and photographed by Ethan James Green. Pirelli framed the project around showing the body, with each participant helping choose an outfit that reflected their comfort with nudity and how much they wanted to reveal. What Padma Lakshmi’s Pirelli Calendar appearance involved
Lakshmi was one of the actors, artists, singers and models featured in the 2025 edition. Pirelli’s official announcement describes a shoot at Miami’s Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, alongside studio portraits. Its editorial material says each cast member appears in an outdoor color image and a black-and-white studio portrait; the official gallery presents the images.
The project’s framing supports describing the calendar as a body-revealing portrait series, but it does not establish that every participant showed the same amount of skin. Pirelli says participants helped select outfits according to their individual relationship with nudity and their preferences about what to reveal. The available materials do not establish a precise description of Lakshmi’s degree of nudity beyond what can be seen in her published images.
What “Refresh and Reveal” means
Green said he developed the concept after looking at earlier Pirelli calendars by Richard Avedon and Herb Ritts. Pirelli explains that “Refresh” meant revisiting the calendar’s origins, while “Reveal” referred to showing skin as a way to capture a person’s true self. Green described the project as “returning to the Calendar’s origins and celebrating the body in new ways that reflect the current moment.”

Green also discussed communication and participant comfort in Pirelli’s interview “What beauty means today”: “You can make a model comfortable by good communication. Making sure they feel like they can speak up if they’re uncomfortable.” These are Green’s comments about his approach, not a statement by Lakshmi about her own experience.
Was Lakshmi “fully in command”?
The phrase “Fully in Command” has not been verified as a direct Lakshmi quotation, and the underlying exclusive interview could not be confirmed. It should therefore not be treated as her account of the shoot or as evidence of what she said about it. The documented point is narrower: Pirelli says cast members had input into choosing outfits that reflected their personal comfort and preferred degree of reveal.

ANSA reported that the calendar was presented in London on November 12, 2024, and described the edition as comprising 24 photographs of 12 talents. Those are production details reported by ANSA; they do not indicate how many images featured Lakshmi.
