He was unmasked during the season 13 semifinals on April 30, 2025, in a surprise twist that sent both contestants at risk through to the finale.
Who was Lucky Duck on The Masked Singer?
Lucky Duck was Taika Waititi, director and screenwriter of Jojo Rabbit. The Academy’s 2020 awards record lists Waititi as the winner of the Oscar for Adapted Screenplay for that film (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, 2020 Academy Awards).
When and how was Lucky Duck unmasked?
Waititi’s reveal aired April 30, 2025, in season 13, episode 12, titled “The Semi-Finals: Head-To-Head Battles.” FOX’s episode listing identifies it as a semifinal episode and notes a major unmasking (FOX episode listing).
According to E!’s recap, Lucky Duck interrupted the semifinal decision and announced that both contestants facing elimination would be safe and advance to the finale. He then revealed himself as Waititi. Rita Ora, Waititi’s wife, was on the judging panel and, E! reports, did not recognize him before the unmasking (E! News, May 1, 2025).

Was this the season 13 finale?
No. The Lucky Duck reveal happened in the semifinals, episode 12. FOX lists the finale separately as episode 13, which aired May 7, 2025 (FOX episode listing).
