Former Pink Friday 2 tour worker Brandon Garrett sued Nicki Minaj and her company in Los Angeles in January 2025, alleging that Minaj struck him backstage after a Detroit concert the previous year. Minaj’s attorney denied the claims, calling them “completely false and frivolous,” according to Variety. The allegations have not been established as facts.
What Garrett alleges happened in Detroit
Garrett said he was working as a day-to-day manager on Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 tour. According to his complaint, summarized in reports by Variety and The Washington Post, a dispute followed an errand involving a prescription and another employee.

Garrett alleges Minaj confronted him in a dressing room at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena after the April 21, 2024 concert, threatened him verbally, and struck him in the face and wrist. This is Garrett’s account as described in the complaint; it is not a court finding.
Who was sued and what the complaint claims
The January 2025 civil suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, names Minaj and Pink Personality Inc. as defendants. The complaint reportedly asserts assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Those claims remain allegations unless and until established through the legal process.

In an April 22, 2026 report, MyNewsLA.com said Garrett’s lawyers sought an order compelling fuller responses to written discovery and requested a $3,900 fine. The report said a hearing was scheduled for August 5, 2026. A request for an order or fine is not a ruling, and the sources cited here do not establish what happened at that hearing or whether the lawsuit was later settled, dismissed, or decided.
