The first must-watch Netflix series highlighted for 2025 was American Primeval, a six-episode limited drama scheduled to premiere on January 9, 2025. That date has passed: this is a look back at BGR’s January 3 preview, not an announcement of an upcoming release.
What BGR picked for the first full week of 2025
BGR’s January 3, 2025 article singled out American Primeval as the week’s main recommendation. Its schedule also included three different kinds of programming:

BGR reported the WWE Raw Netflix debut date; no primary WWE schedule source is cited here.
What is American Primeval about?
Netflix’s synopsis follows a mother and son fleeing their past who form a found family while confronting a harsh landscape. BGR described the drama as a dark frontier story set in 1857, focused on the violent collision of culture, community, and religion in the American West. Those descriptions offer different levels of detail: Netflix summarizes the family’s journey, while BGR emphasizes the historical conflict and tone.

BGR’s January 9, 2025 date is the reported premiere schedule, while Netflix’s current title page labels the series “2024” in its catalog metadata. These are separate data points: the catalog year does not replace the specific January 2025 schedule date reported in BGR’s preview.
