Nick Offerman responded to Michael Flynn Jr.’s anti-Pride Month post by pointing out that Ron Swanson—the character in the image—was best man at a gay wedding in the Parks and Recreation finale. Flynn Jr.’s June 1, 2025 image was an edit: it replaced the computer Ron throws away in the original scene with a Pride flag.
What Michael Flynn Jr. posted on June 1
Flynn Jr. shared an altered image from Parks and Recreation and wrote: “Good morning and Happy Sunday! No quotes today. Just wanted to post how I feel about ‘pride’ month.” The original scene shows Ron Swanson throwing a computer into a dumpster; the Pride flag was added in the edit, not present in the episode.
The image and caption were reported by The Daily Dot and NME. TheWrap also described the edited scene: TheWrap.
Offerman’s reply referenced the series finale
On June 2, Offerman replied: “Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb fuck. #HappyPride”. His post pointed to the Parks and Recreation finale, where Ron is best man at the wedding of Typhoon, a hairdresser, and Craig, an employee of the Parks Department.

The Daily Dot and NME reproduced Offerman’s response and identified the finale wedding as its context. The Independent also reported the exchange and wedding reference.
Why the scene matters to the exchange
Flynn Jr.’s edit changed the object Ron discards into a Pride flag, recasting a familiar comedy scene as a statement against Pride Month. Offerman answered with a detail from the show’s story: Ron’s participation in a gay couple’s wedding. The contrast between the altered image and the finale reference is the substance of the exchange.
