PerthNow reported that My Kitchen Rules would begin on Monday, 1 February 2010, airing Mondays and Tuesdays at 7:30pm on Seven and GWN. Those details describe the schedule announced at the time; they do not establish the programme’s current broadcast or streaming availability.
The launch report said contestants were paired from each state except Tasmania. Each pair would turn its home into a restaurant and cook for the other contestants and judges Peter Evans and Manu Feildel. The best performers would advance to a final in a custom-designed kitchen.
The announced prize was $100,000. Channel 7 general manager Ray Wardrop said, “My Kitchen Rules will play a significant part in the Seven Network’s line up this year.”

The Margaret River launch event
PerthNow’s Helen Ganska reported that 100 Perth media were flown to Margaret River for the series launch. That figure refers to launch attendance, not programme viewership.
At the event, contestants cooked barbecue dishes for attending media, including WA prawns, lamb chops with Mediterranean couscous, and a salmon fillet with salsa in a pastry shell. These were reported as launch-event menu items, not as recipes or equipment recommendations.
