The story is their version of events, not an independently verified account of government actions or the legal issues involved.
What the interview says happened
PerthNow’s interview recounts events the creators associated with Schoolies in November 2024. Blue said she initially planned to film content around the Gold Coast celebrations. The interview reports that her Australian visa had been cancelled after she publicly invited young people to collaborate.
Blue and Knight said they then went to Fiji. Knight said people recognized them on the flight and at their destination. Blue said she learned police might come to deport them, so they left for the airport. Knight said they boarded flights before authorities could act. PerthNow reported their claim that they were never officially deported.
These details come from the interviewees’ account as published by PerthNow. The source does not include an official government statement confirming the visa decision, the anticipated intervention in Fiji, or the legal status of their departure.

What they said about filming and consent
The creators said they checked participants’ identification, used consent forms, and allowed participants to withdraw. Knight argued that they were filming while on holiday and planned to sell the material after returning home. Those are the interviewees’ descriptions and arguments; the interview does not independently verify how the procedures worked or establish their legal significance.
PerthNow also reported public criticism of the plan to approach 18-year-old Schoolies participants. The interview’s account of consent should not be treated as a resolution of those concerns.
