What the June 2012 report said
A blog entry dated Friday, June 29, 2012, described Rice as 24 and reported that she posted a bikini picture on Instagram. It said she thanked her friend, swimwear designer Ellie Gonsalves, and identified the birthday gift as a Veve Swimwear bikini. These details come from that contemporaneous report, whose author was listed as Unknown; they are not independently confirmed by the original post.
Why the headline says “tweets”
The headline used the word “tweets,” but the entry’s body identified Instagram as the platform for the bikini image. The available account therefore does not support saying that the image itself appeared on Twitter. The safest answer is that the report attributed the photo to Instagram, while the original post could not be verified from an authoritative or primary source.
What is and is not corroborated
A Rediff archive has a separate 2013 headline identifying Rice as a swim star, but it does not verify the birthday post, the gift, or the platform. It is not corroboration for the incident. Accordingly, the June 2012 blog report is evidence of what was reported at the time, not conclusive proof of the post’s details.
