A recap episode reportedly filled that earlier slot. Contemporary coverage connected the schedule shift to the recasting of Sabo after Toru Furuya stepped down, but the official announcement about the cast change did not say that it caused the delay.
Why was One Piece Episode 1117 delayed?
Popverse reported on August 19, 2024, that Episode 1117 would move back one week, with a recap episode identified as Episode 1116.5 taking the August 25 slot. Its report linked the schedule change to the late announcement that Toru Furuya would leave the role of Sabo. That connection is a news report, not an explanation stated by the production in its official notice.
