BGR reported on December 26, 2024, that it would arrive on Netflix on January 1, 2025. That date has passed, and the sources available do not establish whether the film is currently streaming in any country. Check your own Netflix catalog for its present status.
Which Christopher Nolan movie was announced for Netflix?
It was Interstellar. In a December 26, 2024 article, BGR’s Andy Meek said the film was scheduled to join Netflix on January 1, 2025. That is a past release date, not an upcoming arrival: the announcement alone does not confirm that the film remains available or has returned since then. Read BGR’s original announcement.

Is Interstellar on Netflix now?
Current availability has not been established. Netflix catalogs differ by country, and a title’s presence can change over time. Search for Interstellar in Netflix while signed in from the country where you plan to watch; rely on the title page and any displayed availability or start date rather than the old announcement. A 2026 guide also advises checking by title and region, but it does not verify this film’s current listing: Freedom251’s guide.
What is Interstellar about?
Matthew McConaughey plays Cooper, a former pilot who joins a mission to search for a possible home for humanity as Earth becomes increasingly uninhabitable. The crew travels beyond Earth in pursuit of that goal. BGR reports that Nolan worked with Caltech physicist Kip Thorne on scientific details, including wormholes that informed the story; that collaboration is production context, not proof that every element of the film is scientifically accurate. BGR’s article and DIRECTV Insider’s synopsis provide further context.
