What Times Now reportedly said
BOOM’s 27 August 2020 fact-check reported that Times Now anchor Athar Khan showed an alleged message reading “IMMA BOUNCE,” linked it to a bounced cheque and displayed a cheque image. The Quint’s contemporaneous account described the excerpt as allegedly between Chakraborty and Jaya Saha, and quoted the anchor making the cheque connection. Neither report authenticates the private messages.
BOOM also reported that a Times Now tweet carrying the video was later deleted. That report concerns the tweet’s status; it does not establish that the clip is unavailable elsewhere.
What “Imma bounce” means in the coverage
BOOM explained “Imma bounce” as a popular slang or colloquial expression meaning “I’m gonna leave.” Scroll’s 27 August 2020 item similarly described it as a way of saying “I’m leaving now.” In those accounts, “bounce” is casual wording for departing—not a bounced cheque.
