Geiranger, a fjord-side village in western Norway, was central to the couple’s announcement. In a statement carried by AP in 2023, they said they were happy to celebrate their love amid Geiranger’s surroundings and described it as “the perfect place to embrace our love.” That was an announcement-stage statement, not a quotation from the wedding day. The wedding was private. Before the event, Norwegian outlet VG reported that the press would not be admitted to the ceremony and that the couple had granted Hello Magazine exclusive coverage rights. In its wedding-eve release on 30 August 2024, destination organization Fjord Norway described an outdoor ceremony in Geiranger and said the party afterward would be held at Hotel Union Geiranger. It also mentioned travel by fjord from Ålesund. These were logistics described by a tourism board ahead of the event, rather than details confirmed in the Royal House’s marriage record. The reviewed sources do not establish an attendance count, wedding cost, or the identities of all guests. Nor do they provide wedding-day speeches. VG reported before the wedding that Royal House communications chief Guri Varpe said any speeches would not be published; that was a response about publication, not a speech from the ceremony. What is Märtha Louise’s role in the Norwegian Royal House?
The Royal House says Märtha Louise performs no official duties for it. It also says the couple agreed she would not use her princess title in connection with business activity, a principle that applies to Verrett as well. King Harald’s message, translated from Norwegian by the Royal House, welcomed Verrett into the family and wished the couple well.
