Working without co-stars gave her room to set her own pace, but the production also required her to prepare dialogue and pronunciation for four language versions.
What did Nithya Menen enjoy about acting alone?
In a March 10, 2018 interview with Scroll.in, Menen said, “I quite loved the fact that I was by myself.” She valued being able to manage her own performance rather than relying on a scene partner to set its rhythm.

“Praana, therefore, was nice. I had my own pace, I had to handle myself and keep things right. There was nobody to slow me down,” she told Scroll. Her account presents the solitude as a creative freedom, not simply an unusual casting arrangement.
How did the production make that freedom demanding?
Four language versions in a 23-day shoot
Scroll reported that Praana was shot in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi over 23 days. That figure describes this film’s reported production schedule; it is not a general measure of how quickly single-actor films can be made.

She checked translations, caught issues, contacted writers during breaks and worked to get her lines and pronunciation right. The Times of India likewise reported that the script began in Malayalam and that Menen helped review dialogue for the other versions.
Sound could mean repeating a take
The Times of India reported that background-sound problems during sync-surround recording could require a shot to be repeated in full. That added a technical challenge to a performance already dependent on Menen carrying the film on her own.
What is Praana about?
Menen plays Tara Anuradha, a writer who believes in freedom and stays in a haunted house, according to Gulf News. The Times of India interview links Menen’s interest in the script to the freedom of expression: she connected with the idea of a writer expressing and creatively interpreting what she feels. Story writer Rajesh Jayaraman described the film to Gulf News as “not a horror tale but a thriller set in fear mode.”

Gulf News reported in January 2019 that a UAE release was scheduled for the following day. India Today reported that the Malayalam theatrical release took place on January 18, 2019, and later quoted director VK Prakash saying he thought releasing that version first was a mistake. These historical release reports do not establish where Praana can be streamed or rented now; check current listings in your region.

Scroll identified P. C. Sreeram as cinematographer and Resul Pookutty as sound designer. Gulf News also named Louis Banks as composer. Scroll reproduced a February 19, 2018 post attributed to Sreeram saying the shoot had wrapped and the film was in post-production.
