Need a nudge for Saturday, March 23, 2024’s NYT Connections? Puzzle #286 has 16 tiles and four groups of four. Start with the progressive hints below; the full color-coded answer key is farther down, behind a spoiler warning.

Hints for Connections #286

Try each clue before revealing the category names. The New York Times describes Yellow as the easiest group and Purple as the trickiest; the clues below follow that difficulty order.

  1. Yellow: Positive acknowledgement.
  2. Green: Come to know of.
  3. Blue: Follow.
  4. Purple: Elements of an important document.

How to approach the board

Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared theme. Several tiles may seem to fit more than one idea, so check that all four words support the same connection before submitting. This board has three verb-like themes, which makes it especially useful to test the whole set rather than settle on a plausible pair.

A wrong guess costs a life, and four mistakes end the game. If you are still solving, pause here before scrolling: the categories and complete sets appear next.
