McGee is caught off guard when he arrives to investigate and realizes the witness is part of his family. The team initially considers whether Burrows died by accident, but the medical evidence points to murder. Judy says she did not know him, then reveals that she and Burrows had been involved.
How Burrows’s murder connects to Allison Howell
Burrows had been investigating the death of Allison Howell, a young woman who worked on the cruise ship. Her death had been described as a fall from an upper deck, but the investigation shows she was strangled and that the fall was staged.

The case becomes more dangerous when Judy’s home is targeted. McGee and Delilah bring her into protective custody, while the team follows clues linking the two deaths. A Joker card Burrows left with Judy becomes one of those clues.
Christopher Blaze is a suspect, but not the killer
Using the ship’s communications, the team identifies Christopher Blaze, an entertainer who had been Allison’s boyfriend. Blaze was involved with Allison in drug dealing, giving investigators reason to examine his connection to her death. He did not kill her, however, and the investigation has to look beyond the most obvious personal motive.

Hazardous waste points toward the captain
The Joker card carries traces of hazardous waste. Judy also notices something that seems out of place: barrels of ginger ale are being loaded onto the ship even though the drink is not available onboard. Her observation helps the team understand how the waste is being moved.
The captain killed Allison after she learned about the operation, then killed Burrows. The waste clue and the unexplained ginger ale barrels help expose the captain’s role and give the investigation a clear link between the ship’s business and both murders.

What happens with Judy, Delilah, and McGee?
“Docked” pairs its murder investigation with the family tension created by Judy’s secret trip. Delilah worries about her widowed mother, while Judy’s actions show that she wants to make her own decisions rather than be managed by her daughter. McGee is pulled between them as they communicate through him instead of speaking directly.
He eventually tells Delilah and Judy that they need to talk to each other rather than use him as a go-between. Delilah accepts his point. Judy also reconnects with her former fiancé, Harold, and the two plan an African safari. Delilah sends her mother off with good wishes while recognizing that Judy may not tell her every detail of the itinerary.

Does the mystery pay off?
The episode’s case turns on clues that initially seem unrelated: Burrows’s investigation into Allison, the Joker card, hazardous-waste traces, and barrels of ginger ale that do not belong in the ship’s ordinary supply. Judy is more than the person who discovers the body; her attention to the odd barrels helps make the waste-transport angle legible. The final reveal ties the captain to both killings and to the operation that prompted them.
The family plot reaches a quieter resolution. McGee’s boundary-setting gives Delilah and Judy a direct way to address their disagreement, while Judy’s plans with Harold underline her independence without requiring Delilah to approve every choice.
