Why was it canceled?
Neither Paramount+ nor CBS Studios gave a definitive reason in the cancellation announcement. No title-specific audience or ratings figure was established by the cited sources, so claims that ratings, production costs, programming strategy, or corporate changes caused the decision should be treated as speculation—not confirmed explanations.

#1 Best Overall
Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly issued a joint statement thanking the cast, crew, creative team, studio partners, and fans for the chance to return to Tony and Ziva’s story. Their statement expressed gratitude but did not explain the cancellation. TVLine reported the statement.
What would Season 2 have been about?
Showrunner John McNamara had an alternate version of the Season 1 finale that could have led into a second season, according to TV Insider. That is a limited indication that the story could have continued, not a detailed account of a planned season. No full Season 2 storyline has been confirmed.

What was the spinoff about?
Paramount’s official description begins after Ziva’s presumed death and Tony’s departure from NCIS to raise their daughter, Tali. Years later, Ziva is revealed to be alive. After one final NCIS mission, she reunites with Tony, and the three face an international threat in a new chapter of their lives. NCIS: Tony & Ziva was ordered as a Paramount+ original starring de Pablo and Weatherly, who also served as executive producers; John McNamara was showrunner and executive producer. CBS Studios’ announcement describes the series and its creative team.
Does Tony DiNozzo return to NCIS?
Yes, but not in a revival of NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Paramount announced that Weatherly will return to the flagship NCIS for a season-long arc in the 2026–2027 season. That is a separate franchise development and does not change the spinoff’s cancellation. Paramount Press Express announced the flagship-series return.

Where can you watch Season 1?
Paramount+ lists the series and its first season in its catalog. Streaming availability can differ by country, so check the service’s local catalog for current access. The official listing is Paramount+’s NCIS: Tony & Ziva page.
Paramount has also cited more than 300 million viewers worldwide across platforms for the broader NCIS franchise during the 2022–2023 TV season, an estimate attributed to Nielsen and Paramount internal data. That figure covers the franchise across broadcast, cable, streaming, and syndication; it is not an audience figure for NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Paramount Press Express reported the franchise-wide estimate in 2024.
