The TV show announced as Ring Nation was a half-hour syndicated program hosted by Wanda Sykes, built around viral clips captured on Ring doorbells and other smart-home cameras. It was announced in August 2022 with a planned premiere of September 26, 2022; that announcement does not establish whether the show is available now.
What was Ring Nation?
Ring Nation was announced as a television series that would turn home-camera recordings into short entertainment segments. MGM described the planned show as featuring neighbors helping one another, marriage proposals, military reunions and funny animal moments. The Inquirer’s August 12, 2022, Associated Press report identifies it as a half-hour syndicated program hosted by comedian Wanda Sykes: Amazon’s Ring, MGM to launch show from viral doorbell videos.
The premise made ordinary footage from doorbells and smart-home cameras into material for a broad television audience. MGM described the clips as a “daily dose of life’s unpredictable, heartwarming and hilarious viral videos” shared by people from their cameras, according to CBS News / Associated Press coverage published August 12, 2022.
When was it supposed to premiere?
Announcement coverage in August 2022 gave September 26, 2022, as the planned premiere date. This is the date the show was scheduled to launch, not confirmation of its present-day broadcast or streaming status.

Is Ring Nation still on TV or streaming?
The available announcement coverage establishes the planned launch, but does not establish whether Ring Nation currently airs, has ended, or is available on a streaming service. Without a current schedule or service listing, its present availability cannot be confirmed.
How did the producers say they would handle permissions?
In the August 2022 CBS/AP report, the production said it would obtain permission from footage owners and identifiable people, or from the relevant rights holders, before using clips on the show. That statement describes the production’s stated approach to television footage. It does not, on its own, resolve wider questions about who is recorded, how camera footage may be shared, or access by law enforcement.

Why did the show raise surveillance questions?
Ring Nation’s format recast recordings made around homes as shareable entertainment. That creates a tension: a clip may be amusing or moving to viewers while still involving people captured by a camera in a domestic or neighborhood setting. A 2024 article in Surveillance & Society, “Ring Nation and the cute performance of surveillance”, analyzes the program as an example of surveillance culture; it is scholarly media analysis, not evidence of the show’s current availability or its production procedures.
The privacy discussion also has a separate law-enforcement dimension. CBS/AP reported in August 2022 that Amazon said Ring had provided footage to law enforcement 11 times in 2022 in response to emergency requests. That is a dated figure for the period covered by the report, not a current or all-time total.

What cameras supplied the footage?

Ring video doorbells are therefore relevant to the show’s premise, but the announcement does not identify particular camera models or suggest that viewers needed to own a Ring device to watch the program.
