The game behind the “female Luffy” headline is Enigma of Sépia, listed on Apple’s U.S. App Store as Era of Sepia. Its female cast has been described as parody counterparts or apparent inspirations drawn from famous male anime characters—not as confirmed, officially licensed appearances of Luffy or other characters.
What game is behind the headline?
Enigma of Sépia is the name used in secondary coverage; Apple’s U.S. App Store lists the iOS game as Era of Sepia. The developer named in the listing is Unicorn Whale Technology Limited. The different names can make the title difficult to identify, but both refer to the game discussed in the headline.
The headline’s “waifu makeovers” describes female characters presented as parody counterparts or apparent inspirations from recognizable male anime characters. Know Your Meme’s February 2025 entry says the game drew attention after showing a female version of Chainsaw Man’s Denji called “Denise.” That is secondary reporting, not confirmation from a rights holder.
Are these official versions of Luffy and other anime characters?
The available sources do not establish that the characters are licensed appearances from One Piece, Chainsaw Man, or any other anime franchise. It is more accurate to describe them as parody counterparts or apparent inspirations than to call them official versions of Luffy or other named characters.

How does the game work?
