Netflix presents Golf Mayhem ’98 Demo as a playable, previously unreleased-to-the-public game tied to Happy Gilmore 2. The service describes it as a turn-of-the-century time capsule that draws on events, characters and scenes from the first Happy Gilmore film. That is Netflix’s account of the game; it is not an independently verified history of a commercial release.

The game casts the player as Happy and combines golf with the film’s comic confrontations. Netflix describes familiar swing-meter mechanics, free-roam fairways, hecklers and boss encounters, citing Bob Barker and an alligator among its examples. The official explainer is available at Netflix Tudum.
Why are there two Happy Gilmore game titles?
The apparent two-title story comes from mixing up a playable Netflix demo with a game reference inside Happy Gilmore 2. Netflix’s Easter-egg guide says the in-film game recreates scenes from the original movie. The guide does not identify it as a second separately released game that viewers can download or play.

In practical terms, the distinction is simple: Golf Mayhem ’98 Demo is the title Netflix offers to play on supported devices; the other game is part of the movie’s fictional world. Netflix’s Easter-egg guide discusses the film reference.
Where can you play the demo?
Netflix says the demo is available on select TVs and web devices in listed countries, not universally on every Netflix account or device. Netflix games are included with a membership on any plan, according to its July 25, 2025 explainer. Whether a title appears can depend on device capabilities, device age and beta availability.

On a supported TV
Open Netflix and look for the Games row or Games menu. In Netflix’s documented TV setup, a phone or tablet serves as the controller; other controllers are not supported for that setup. If the game does not appear, the device or region may not be supported, or the relevant feature may not be available to that account. Check Netflix’s current TV games help page for device and access details.
On a supported web device
Use a supported web device in a country where Netflix lists the game. Netflix’s game explainer identifies the eligible countries and access details; availability can change, so consult that page rather than assuming the game is available everywhere.

How the game fits Netflix’s broader film tie-in
The demo was one part of a wider Happy Gilmore 2 promotional campaign. In an announcement dated June 26, 2025, Netflix named Subway, U.S. Bank and Callaway as partners.
- Subway: Netflix said a Happy Gilmore Meal and four limited-edition character cups would begin July 10, 2025, at Subway locations nationwide, while supplies lasted. That was a past promotion, not an offer readers should assume is still redeemable.
- U.S. Bank: The company sponsored the film’s Champions Tour premiere and appeared in custom campaign spots, according to Netflix’s announcement.
- Callaway: The campaign included announced limited-edition golf balls and the Odyssey Hockey Stick Putter. The announcement does not establish whether these products remain available, where they can be bought, or any current retail terms.
Netflix Shop currently lists a Happy Gilmore 2 collection with categories including hats, hoodies, mugs, pajamas and T-shirts. Stock and regional selection can change.

What is—and is not—established about the release
Netflix’s description supports calling Golf Mayhem ’98 Demo an unreleased-to-the-public game surfaced for the tie-in. The reviewed official pages do not publish player-count, sales or audience figures, and they do not establish two independently playable editions. The safest description is therefore one Netflix-playable demo alongside one in-film game reference—not two newly launched games.
