If you mean the 2018 animated feature The Grinch, Netflix availability depends on your country. Netflix’s Canada page currently says the film is unavailable there, but that does not establish whether or when it left Netflix in the US. A US listing checked October 8, 2026, showed it on Peacock and available to rent or buy digitally.
Which Grinch movie are you looking for?
This guide is about the 2018 animated feature, which Netflix lists as Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch and JustWatch lists as The Grinch. It runs 85 minutes according to JustWatch’s US listing checked October 8, 2026. The title can also refer to other adaptations: the 1966 How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, for example, is a separate 26-minute animated special.
Where to watch The Grinch (2018) in the US
JustWatch’s US listing, checked October 8, 2026, showed subscription access through Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus. It also listed digital rental or purchase through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home, plus DVD and Blu-ray purchase options including Amazon DVD/Blu-ray. These are a dated availability snapshot, not a guarantee of current access, price, or disc stock.
| Access type | US options listed October 8, 2026 | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus | Confirm that the film is in your region’s current catalog before subscribing. |
| Digital rental or purchase | Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home | Check the live listing for price, rental period, and playback terms. |
| Disc | DVD and Blu-ray purchase options, including Amazon DVD/Blu-ray | Verify the listing is for the 2018 feature, not another Grinch adaptation. |
Is The Grinch still on Netflix?
Netflix’s Canada title page says, “This title currently isn’t available to watch in your country.” That confirms only what the Canada page says; it does not establish availability in the US or other countries, or identify when the film became unavailable. Netflix catalogs differ by territory, so check the title page or catalog for your own country.

#1 Best Overall
- You're a mean one, Mr Grinch! bring home Christmas's most infamous character with this adorable take on the Dr; Seuss classic!
- Rated safe for all ages
- Does not stand on its own
- Features detailed embroidery
The October 2026 US departure guide published by What’s on Netflix on September 25 does not include The Grinch in its displayed October 1 or October 15 departure lists. The guide notes that licensing changes can affect removals and that dates may vary by region. Its omission is not proof of the film’s Netflix status in every market.
Why did Netflix remove it?
No verified explanation for this title’s unavailability was established, and the Canadian Netflix page does not say why it cannot be watched there. It would be speculation to attribute the status to a particular licensing decision or to name a removal date without region-specific confirmation. There is also no published figure establishing how many Netflix subscribers were upset about this film’s availability.

Don’t confuse the 2018 film with the 1966 special
If you are searching for the original animated TV special, look for How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966), not The Grinch (2018). JustWatch checked a separate US listing for the 1966 special on October 7, 2026; its viewing options are not the same as those listed for the feature.
