The movie behind the headline is Taken in Plain Sight, a 2024 mystery thriller starring Tennille Read and Sameer Jafar. Its Top 10 moment was in October 2025—not a current ranking: Tom’s Guide reported it at No. 8 in the Netflix U.S. Top 10 on October 17, 2025. Netflix’s title page lists the film, but availability can vary by country.
What is Taken in Plain Sight about?
Abby and her daughter Zooey are on a road trip when Zooey disappears during a brief stop. After months of searching, Abby believes she has identified the person responsible. Authorities dismiss her suspicions, so she follows leads herself—and begins to question how certain she can be. The investigation uncovers a darker truth, but the central twist is best left unspoiled.
Who made the movie?
Taken in Plain Sight is a 2024 film. Lifetime names Tennille Read and Sameer Jafar among its stars, and the film credits list Cat Hostick as director. Netflix categorizes it as a suspenseful mystery, slow-burn investigation, crime thriller, and drama.
When did it reach Netflix’s Top 10?
The chart claim is historical. Tom’s Guide reported that Netflix U.S. added the movie on October 15, 2025, and that it had reached No. 8 in the U.S. Top 10 by October 17. That was a dated snapshot, not evidence of its current rank.

Should you stream it?
Consider it if you want a suspense-led missing-child investigation, a determined parent at its center, and a mystery built around a twist. If you prefer a densely layered psychological puzzle, this may be a more conventional option: Tom’s Guide characterized the film as straightforward, formulaic thriller viewing in its October 2025 coverage. That is the outlet’s assessment, not a broad critical consensus; the available evidence does not establish a current authoritative audience rating.
