The two short lines quoted below are printed in an official Naruto retrospective; the other entries explain key speeches without inventing dialogue. English wording and punctuation can vary between licensed manga editions.
How these Madara quotes and speeches were selected
This is a thematic selection, not an official ranking. It prioritizes lines and speeches that reveal Madara’s beliefs, mark a change in his relationship with Hashirama, or move his plan forward. Read in story order, they show why his ideas about peace become inseparable from control and conflict.
1. A childhood hope for peace with Hashirama
In their early history, Madara and Hashirama imagine a future in which neither has to die and the two can speak openly with one another. The hope matters because it is shared: before they become defining rivals, they picture a way to avoid the cycle of loss that surrounds them.
The official Naruto retrospective associates this part of their history with Volume 65, chapter 621. The collected volume is titled Hashirama and Madara and contains chapters 618–627, according to the official manga catalog.

2. “My True Dream”: friendship gives way to estrangement
After Hashirama becomes First Hokage, Madara grows fearful for the Uchiha and leaves to pursue what he regards as his own future vision. His departure is not simply a break with a friend: it marks the point at which he no longer trusts their shared political future to protect his clan.
The retrospective points to Volume 65, chapter 625, titled “My True Dream,” for this turn. The chapter title captures the change in scale: the childhood hope they shared becomes a vision Madara intends to pursue on his own.

3. The dream-world plan: peace imposed, not negotiated
When Madara explains his plan to Obito, he describes a world without victors and losers, where peace and love would be secured through a dream. The retrospective connects this speech to Volume 63, chapter 602, “Alive.” Madara’s reasoning is that a world built on conflict cannot be repaired by ordinary cooperation; his answer is to remove people from the painful reality in which conflict happens.
That is Madara’s proposed solution, not the story’s endorsed answer to peace. The Infinite Tsukuyomi would impose his vision rather than let people choose how to live. The gap between his language of peace and the coercion of his plan is central to understanding the speech.

4. Madara’s declaration of war
Madara’s war declaration is a plot-driven speech rather than a quiet reflection on peace. The official summary for Naruto Shippuden episode 425 says he explains the Moon’s Eye plan to Sasuke, seeks the two remaining Tailed Beasts, and declares the Fourth Great Ninja War after the Five Kage refuse to hand them over. That summary establishes the declaration’s immediate context, but it is not a full dialogue transcript, so it does not support a verbatim quotation of the speech.
5. “I’m looking forward to the battles we’ll fight…”
The official retrospective prints Madara’s line, “I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE BATTLES WE’LL FIGHT…” and associates the material with Volume 68, chapter 656, “The Switch.” The line is memorable because it presents combat as something Madara anticipates, not merely a cost he accepts. After returning to life, he celebrates having a living body and a real fight; battle has become a source of vitality for him.

Near the end, Madara and Hashirama’s last exchange turns back toward the dreams they pursued and the hopes they shared as children. The retrospective prints the brief excerpt, “NEITHER YOU…NOR I… COULD ACHIEVE WHAT WE WANTED,” and points to Volume 72, chapter 691, “Congratulations.” In context, the line recognizes that neither man achieved the future he wanted. The retrospective describes the exchange as a return to their earlier comradeship after their opposing dreams fail.
