In an Instagram post reported by PerthNow on 3 September 2024, she described feeling set back by the remarks but said she would pick herself up and move forward.
What Bassingthwaighte said in her post
PerthNow reported that Bassingthwaighte’s post accompanied a photograph of her from about 30 years earlier. The report described the post as approximately 650 words (PerthNow, 2024).
She addressed people making hurtful remarks, writing: “If you don’t have anything nice to say to people don’t say anything at all!” She also acknowledged their effect on her: “I won’t lie, your hurtful comments set me back but I will be brave again, pick myself up as I always have and move forward.” Both statements were reproduced from her Instagram post by PerthNow on 3 September 2024.
Her account describes her own response to comments about her as a mother, her appearance and her relationship. It is not a clinical assessment of the effects of online abuse. PerthNow’s report does not include a response from the commenters.

How this differed from the 2023 episode
The 2024 post followed an earlier, distinct episode. On 30 November 2023, PerthNow reported that Bassingthwaighte had objected to vicious comments after the public debut of her relationship with Pip Loth. In that earlier report, she was quoted as saying: “Hate just brings more hate. And I don’t have any hate in my life.” That quote belongs to the 2023 coverage, not the 2024 post.
