The Gulfstream III publicly associated with Magic Johnson is identifiable in FAA records as N32MJ, a 1982 Gulfstream Aerospace G-1159A, serial number 460. But the FAA record accessed October 8, 2026, lists Aviation Company Inc. as the corporate registrant—not Johnson—and shows a pending registration change to 32MU. The celebrity connection is documented in older industry coverage; it should not be confused with the aircraft’s current registry status.
What aircraft is associated with Magic Johnson?
FAA registry data identifies N32MJ as a Gulfstream Aerospace G-1159A manufactured in 1982, with serial number 460. The FAA’s type-designator order identifies G-1159A as the Gulfstream 3, commonly called the Gulfstream III. The FAA Aircraft Inquiry for N32MJ is the primary source for the airframe’s recorded identity; FAA Order JO 7360.1K confirms the model nomenclature.
Why is N32MJ linked to Magic Johnson?
A 2017 Corporate Jet Investor report described N32MJ as Johnson’s Gulfstream III and explained the registration as a reference to his Lakers jersey number, 32, and his initials, MJ. That is a historical published association, not proof of current ownership. The FAA record accessed October 8, 2026, names Aviation Company Inc. of Cheyenne, Wyoming, as the corporate registrant and shows a pending number change to 32MU, authorized September 4, 2026. It reports a certificate issue date of August 12, 2026, and an expiration date of August 31, 2033. These are time-sensitive registry details, not a statement that Johnson owns the aircraft today. Corporate Jet Investor’s 2017 report records the historical association.
What is known about the cabin?
A February 2012 post by MacDaddyPaddy reproduced a sales-style listing for a Gulfstream III associated with Johnson. The listing claimed a $2.4 million interior refurbishment in 2002 and described an eleven-passenger executive layout, including a mid-cabin workstation, entertainment equipment, and forward and aft galleys and lavatories. These details come from an old listing, not an inspection or current cabin record; they do not establish the aircraft’s present interior or condition. The 2012 reposted listing is the source for those historical claims.

What can flight tracking tell you?
Public tracking can show reported aircraft movements, but it does not identify passengers. The Celebplanes profile for N32MJ explicitly says the people aboard are unknown, and cautions that its registration and tracking information may be incomplete or outdated. A flight path therefore cannot establish that Johnson was on a flight, why it took place, or what business it involved. Celebplanes’ N32MJ profile and tracker states those limits.

No. An FAA registry entry establishes information recorded in the registry; it is not an airworthiness determination. The FAA’s own warning is explicit: “INFORMATION PROVIDED HERE SHOULD NOT BE USED TO DETERMINE THE AIRWORTHINESS OF AN AIRCRAFT.” The registry status should not be treated as evidence that the aircraft is currently fit to fly.
